I'm in the hut, officially December 12th at approximately 4pm.

Again, it started in the presence of my boss. Only this month, I was not prepared. I'd been in too much of a rush when I left the house.

Now I'm home from work, armed with Advil, my Keeper, and a new, homemade rainbow flannel rice bag, and a movie. Hopefully tomorrow will not be a typical first full day - (typically extremely heavy and painful) - and I'll be comfortable at work tomorrow night. We shall see.

As for today, it's heavy as usual, and I'm trying to stay away from the Advil. I work in a bit over an hour and don't feel like going, but other than that I'm well, thanks :)

How did you make the rice bag? In particular, how much rice/what kind did you use, and what size is it?

I bought 1/4 yard of flannel from the fabric store (but they cut large there, it was 11" wide instead of 9

I folded it right sides together and cut out an 8" x 18" rectangle and started sewing along one of the lengths, then across the width, then the other length, keeping one "short" end open. (I used 1/4 inch seam allowance, but if using flannel, I'd suggest 1/3 because of it's tendency to fray) I turned it right side out, filled it with about 12 cups of fancy long grain white rice (Similar to Uncle Ben's, but a cheaper variety) then turned in the raw edges and sewed the thing shut. Microwaved on med-high heat for 3 - 6 minutes, and it's working great. It has that slight rice-y scent to it, I may use my essential oils to scent it later, but for now, the rice smell is comforting. It was so easy. I made several for friends and my nieces.

this might be a stupid question, but.. what do you do with it?
