question for orthocyclen girls
Dec. 14th, 2002 03:58 pmi read in the instructions for my pill pac that you can skip the "empty" pills and skip your period. so i tried it 3 weeks ago today and i still got my period. only its lasted for 20 days. i started taking my empty pills today, as scheduled, so i know my period isn't going to stop at least for another week. i dont know if i should go see my doc now or wait until i start taking the real pills again next saturday to see if my period will stop. cos i know i screwed up my period by not taking the empty pills. i guess my question here is has this happened to anyone else who's taking/taken orthocyclen and skipped her empty pills? if anyone has any experience with this sort of thing, please help me out here.

Date: 2002-12-14 01:28 pm (UTC)What are you talking about? The empty pills are nothing but sugar, the only thing they're there for is to keep in your head that you have to take your pills at a certain time, so you won't forget them when you start taking them again and you're off your period again. They aren't for anything but that. They won't stop your period if you don't take them......
Besides, trying to avoid your period with any pill is a very stupid move. When you're on the pill, your body still executes an egg and the tissue that isn't fertilized NEEDS to leave your body, that's what your period is for. Trying to stop that will indoubtedly screw your body up. Don't do it.
The only reason some girls don't get their period when they're on Depo Provera is because it stops the process completely, so there is no tissue to be disposed of.

Date: 2002-12-15 01:11 am (UTC)When you say you've had your period for 20 days, do you mean the full flow, or just spotting? Spotting is normal if you run two packs of active pills together, it's an effect of having more progesterone in your body than usual. A full flow lasting that long would not be normal, however, and would be worth seeing a doctor about. It may not be because of skipping the sugar pills - it could be a symptom of some other problem. You should probably keep taking your pills as normal until you can get an appointment.
