I am taking vitamin C, so I can get over a cold, and I know that you guys take vitamin c. Anyone know if you can take TOO much??

It's difficult to take too much. Really the only side effect of too much Vit. C is peeing more than usual as your body gets rid of the extra, or a little stomach ache if you're taking the chewable kind. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I get what you're talking about sometimes...just be patient...going to the gym for a good workout and then hot water bottle on my abdomen later often helps. Hope it's all normal soon!

Over the very long run, taking two much vitamin C can mess with your system, but it's not bad for a few weeks at a time.

There's actually little good scientific evidence that taking megadoses of Vitamin C helps with colds, but if it has a placebo effect, it's still "working."

It can also cause diarrhoea (unpleasant but not actually harmful provided you don't let it go on long enough to get dehydrated).

The only harmful thing I can think of is that if you have a chance of being pregnant, and if you either want a baby or can't stand the thought of having an abortion, avoid megadoses of vitamin C. It's been mentioned as an abortifacient. I don't know about the legitimacy of this (I personally wouldn't use it as birth control), but it's something to think about it.

Beyond that, as other have said, there isn't any problem with taking megadoses over a short time period. After a few weeks, you run the risk of developing crystals in your urine, which can cause pain and possibly more serious kidney/urinary tract problems.
