Yahoo! I'm in the hut again...finally! My doctor put me on Provera two weeks ago to "jump-start" a period so I could begin birth control (to regulate my cycle)...I took Provera for a week, and nothing happened. I was getting so worried!! I thought that something was wrong because nothing happened for 5 days after my last Provera pill (it's usually not like that). Then finally, my period arrived, and I was so relieved. Talk about tables turning, eh? I used to dread my period...but it has never been so welcomed as it was this month! Haha...so now I am on birth control and everything's good. My next goal is to try a tampon....does anyone have any suggestions about tampons brands that are good for first-timers (i.e. small, easy to insert, etc.)? I am utterly at a loss whenever I am in the "feminine hygiene" aisle looking at them. All my life I have used pads so tampons are kinda new territory.

Yup yup. Lots of brands make "slim" tampons. Look for something like that, or plastic applicators like "Pearls" kind which will help slide in better. First time users may find them uncomfortable, but that's usually because you don't insert them high enough, or far enough in. They don't get lost or anything. Keep trying until YOU feel comfortable. Good luck!!!!!!!

When I first tried tampons, I tried tampax, cause that's what my Mom had in the house. They were okay, but always seemed kind of big. Then I tried the playtex, which I preferred because of the rounded applicators. Tampax apparently makes one now with rounded applicators too, but I've never tried them because I swear by OB. My preference is without applicators-they're compact, easy to insert, and absorb wonderfully. I don't think I've ever had a leak. If you're not comfortable touching yourself, you might prefer the ones with the applicators, which are a bit harder to find, but I actually think without the applicator it's easier to get in and manipulate. Start with the lowest absorbency, and see how you feel.

Try lots of different kinds out before you make a decision.
