Here's my question. Does anybody sleep with a tampon in? I hate wearing a pad, cause in the morning everythin is just a big bloody mess. So is it alright to wear a tampon?

I've slept with a tampon in about 250 times -- I'm not exaggerating.

Put it in right before you go to bed, take it out as soon as you get up, and don't use a super absorbency tampon.

No, I don't.
The longer you wear a tampon, the higher the risk of getting TSS.
My mother once told me it's not smart to wear one for more than a few hours, and as soon as I hit the 4 hour mark, I take mine out.
I saw a program on Discovery Health about TSS, and I don't want to risk getting it. Some of the girls who had it ended up getting very very sick, and some died.

i always sleep with a tampon in. i know i shouldn't but i do. i just bleed sooooooo much -- stupid polycystic ovaries! i put it in just before bed and take it out as soon as i wake up. it's not so bad though because i often wake up in the middle of the night having to pee anyway so if i do that i change it then.

but even so, i've never had a problem. even using a super plus (anything less is a mistake my first 3 to 4 days - after that i move down to a regular for nighttime because i bleed less at night during the day).

anyway i don't want to say it's a good idea, but... in my personal experience it has more of an upside than a down.

i sleep with a tampon in.. sometimes i sleep for like 9 hours too. but usually not. and i try to put it in RIGHT before sleep, and rush to the bathroom when i wake up. and sometimes i wake up earlier and change it.. like natural awakening. i dont set my alarm or anything. i shouldnt wear it TOO long. but sometimes i just sleep :P and wear a pad as well on heavy days, cause since youre just laying around for 8 hours it can fill up the tampon and start leaking out.

I do on occasion. Not every night, and I've never worn the super absorbency, but sometimes it's for longer than the recommended 8 or so hours, and I've been fine. I do adhere to the "before bed/as soon as you wake up" rule of inserting and removing. Also, make sure it's comfortable ie: you can't feel it. Otherwise you might end up with a nasty surprise in the morning, as well. And if you wake up in the middle of the night, bonus! Time to change :)

I have worn one during the night for just about the same length I have been using tampons for my period, which is nearly 8years. I have never had a problem with them. I change right before I go to bed, and when I wake up first thing in the morning. but in my case it was an easy routine, I have the last minute pee, and the wake up pee lol.

Yep I sleep with mine in, unless I think I'll sleep for more than 8 hours. Apparently sometimes is good to wear a pad at least one night to lessen the risk of TSS, but I hardly bother. x
