[identity profile] sylphic.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] menstrualhut
Hey guys..I'm new to the community :)
I'm curious about the Instead softcup. For thos of you who have used it, a) is it hard to insert and/or remove?, and b) if you've had sex with it in, does it change anything? like how wet you get or the sensation or anything?
Forgive me for sounding clueless, I've just discovered Instead and I'd just like to hear some opinions on it. Thanks :)

I find it as easy to get in and out as I did a diaphragm -- pretty easy. I haven't tried intercourse with it, and probably won't. It just seems to big. The boy I live with says he could feel a diaphragm in a woman he's slept with who used one, and didn't like it, and Instead is thicker.

I agree, easy to put in and remove. I've used it during intercourse and didn't find it really completely inhibiting, but I was very conscious of it, perhaps I was overly concerned.

The single drawback to it that I have found, forgive my frankness here, is that, due to its placement, it can shift if you have to poop, so I just double check it's placement before I leave the restroom.

hi... i figured rather than posting a whole new post about insteads i'd just ask in a previous post! how do you know it's in far enough? i pushed it in as far as my index finger would go but i thing it could go in further but i'm not sure.

The info that comes in the instead package is really pretty good. Check the diagram there. The point is to have it positioned in such a way that it sits unnoticably, high in the vagina so that it is able to catch the menstrual blood as it exits the cervix. You probably won't have to put it any further back than your index finger will allow. Any further, and you'd probably have trouble removing it, since you need to be able to hook your finger on the rim to remove it.

I really didn't have a problem with inserting or removing. It was messy, which is awkward in a public bathroom. But when I wore it around walking, and especially sitting, it HURT. I could feel it poking me from the inside. I think it's just because I'm really tiny, but really wasn't comfortable to me. Just my view.
