My story: I started my period when I was 15 almost 16 and I was baby-sitting at the time. My cycle is generally 7 days on and heavy (we're talking 6 cups+ a day).

When I was in high school I was in ROTC. I went to a sort of mini-boot camp, the only mini part about that was the length of time. I got my period but didn't bring anything with me. And this was probably the heaviest period I've ever gotten. No one had extra tampons so I had to go through the boot camp running to the bathroom every other second (with TONS of marine drill sergeants biting my head off) to wash my underwear and replace the gobs of toilet paper. I went through 4 days of that and it was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

I have SEVERE problems with trying to get my period regular. Sometimes its on for 2 months STRAIGHT and FULL with no signs of stopping. But my biggest dilemma is I haven't had my period in 6 months. There's no risk of pregnancy, it's been 2 years since I've had sex. The doctor is clueless as to why it's stopped. No, I'm not emaciated or over-exercise, anyone have any ideas?

Oooh that is a bad experience! And have you been under any stress or depression lately? Becasue that, and worrying about not getting it, can stop your period for a few months. If your Doctor cant find anything wrong then I wouldn't worry about it x

I'm not sure, but the depression has maybe just taken over your whole cycle and stopped it even though you are really stressed. I wouldn't worry about it, anjoy being tampon free for a while! lol It'll sort itself out :) x

Investigate PCOS. Do a search on Google, I know there are a bunch of sites out there. The symptoms may not fit you at all, but it's worth checking. Also, might want to have some hormonal blood tests done and maybe an ultrasound. It's not a big scary thing, but better to know than not.

if you're shorter than i am (under 5 feet) you may have a less-severe form of Turner's but then again, i just did a project on it and i had most of the symptoms ^^;;; so don't worry about having turner's.

but yeah, depression can do it. also, if you exercise heavily like me... 3+ hours of tae kwon do, burning 720 calories each hour... plus volleyball in the fall and track in the spring, fencing, and maybe some cheerleading, and then swimming in the summer (yes, i'm a sporty girl) can definately do it. at first, my doctor freaked out, but once she realized that duh, i play lots of sports, she was like "oh, you have an athelete's period... you have all the nessicary hormones but since you exercise so much it gets confused" (she put it simpler for me). SO! that might be the problem. as for heavy-ness, every girl/woman is different, although if you're younger than 20 and bleeding that much, i'd get it checked out to make sure. i don't want to freak you out or anything, cus i know what it feels like to be worried about your uterus!! -huggles- i'm sure you're ok :DD
