okay, i've been looking for stores in my area that would stock brands of tampons like natracare . . . i'm getting nothing. It's more like I don't know what type of store to search for in the yellow pages. Searching for 'health stores' gets me places like G.N.C. or health food places . . . I imagine i could call all of them and ask, but that seems like an excessive number of phone calls. What type of places do you guys find organic/natural/non-synthetic tampons at?

Have you tried looking for websites for the manufacturers? They may list their retailers. You may also want to look under organic food, organic groceries, or food co-ops.

It's all about Whole Foods Market (http://wholefoodsmarket.com/), Wild Oats (http://www.wildoats.com/app/cda/oat_cda.php?pt=Home), or Wild Harvest (http://www.wild-harvest.com/).

Hope that helps. Is there a really liberal/hippie type town near you? Sometimes there is an indie co-op type place that will sell them. I live near Boston and alternately Amherst/Northampton, MA where such products are easy to find.

Good luck!

A local health food gourmet/health food store near me called Bonterra's Market (Egg Harbor Township, NJ) has some organic-looking tampons and pads; never checked the names of them. I'd say any health food store that carries vegan/organic beauty products (like shampoos, hairdye, cosmetics and lotions) has a pretty high chance of carrying feminine products as well. First call the local stores that carry those things and ask, then if you have to, call the sketchy, not-well-known places?

Where do you live? You've had suggestions that are all excellent. Trader Joe's (and they do have a website, but i'm on my way out the door) also carries organic (or at least unbleached tampons).

GNC sucks, you should be looking more for local, organic, health-food, hippie-type grocery stores. Nature's Market, Wild Oats, Trader Joe's, Whole Food, Fresh Fields, those kinds of places.
