okay i was sick and tired of bleeding through super tampons, so i went out and bought SUPER DUPER ones and i still bled through! so frustrating. i might as well wear a pad if tampons don't absorb my flow. i've only used OB tampons b/c i can't seem to get the applicator thing down. has anyone else bought applicator tampons and taken them out of the applicator to make it easier to insert? i've been thinking about doing that recently, b/c sometimes i wonder if OB actually absorbs....doesn't seem like it to me!

on a side note---> i realized that this may will be the ten year anniversary of my period. oh my! am i really that old?!?

Try Insteads or the Keeper. It might be that the tampons are making you bleed worse -- I always bleed twice as long and it feels like at least 1/2 again as much when I use tampons, probably from the irritation.

I've always found ob tampons to be far more absorbent than any other regular, commercial brand. Blood slips right past Tampax, while ob sucks it right up.

Mary, who's somewhere around the 27th anniversary of her menarche :)

Almost 8 years since my start... wow!
About the heavy flow... I'm not sure what to do. But if it's that heavy, you should probably see a doc. Unusually heavy periods can be an indication of a more serious problem. If you've been checked for stuff already, ignore what I just said. But if not, get checked out, at least for my peace of mind. Hehe. :)

wow ... you just made me realize, I had my 12-year anniversary last week. Every year I mean to do something to mark the day, and every year I forget. grr ...

As far as applicators go: If your flow is heavy, I think any type of tampon should just, um, slide right in there. Having an applicator or not shouldn't make much of a difference. I'm not a fan of ob, mostly because they're so small (at least the samples I've seen). I go for the store-brand ultras ... cheap and effective. Which is good, because I need both attributes!
