Getting an IUD Wthout First Having a Child?

Hey!

I would love to get an IUD, but I've never been pregnant. From research, I've learned that many health care practicioners are loathe to give people like me (read: never had a full term pregnancy) an IUD.

So, I'm wondering if any of you have an IUD, but have not yet had children. I don't want to go on the pill again - it made me moody, raised my blod pressure (which is already high) and I gained weight.

I have an IUD (copper T) , and have never been pregnant. Maybe it helps that I went in seeking a tubal ligation (sterilization) but couldn't afford that? If you have a reactionary health care provider, maybe they'd think an IUD is at least better than sterilization! Anyway, I love mine; highly recommend it (for those who are monogamous / practicing safe sex ... it is NOT a barrier to disease!)
