SEA SPONGES ROCK!!!!

I am so loving my sea sponge, I am actually *enjoying* my period. I am using it for the first time today, and it was so beautiful... when I went to clean it, the blood was still red... not that dried dirty brown color. It was still alive, and part of me...it was so ... spiritual.

where does one aquire a sea sponge?

From The Red Spot (http://onewoman.com/redspot/):
Sea sponges cannot be sold as "menstrual sponges" because they are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for that use, but most health food stores sell them as "cosmetic sponges". Look for small, yellowish natural sponges which are about 2 inches long.

I bought mine at my local chemist, they were about four dollars each. Just ask for all natural sea sponges at a healthstore or chemist.

OR, you can check out these:

They're the silkpearls marketed specifically for periods. (look just like mine!)

I just sewed a piece of cotton string to the end of each one to make with drawal easier (one got stuck in there once! XD)

Or, you can try these:

I, too, use sea sponges. They are definetely more comfortable, personable and earthy than tampons. If I'm going out for a while, I use 100% cotton tampons though.

Seasponges are also good because you can squeeze the blood from them and use the blood for art and ritual and other similar things.

Heh. I just started using mine this morning-- For some reason, I was really nervous about it. Kind of reminds me of the first time I used a tampon-- Like being scared, inexperienced, and eleven all over again. Yeah, I'm pretty delirious in the mornings, and easily made apprehensive-- particularly during that time of the month. *shrug*

Anyway, Just thought I'd contribute :)
Cordially yours,
