a museum of menstruation!
Jun. 21st, 2001 01:27 ami don't know if this has been mentioned before, but a US man started a museum of menstration (MUM). you can check it out here.
you can go on a 'virtual tour' (filled with lots of neat info and photos of exhibits, etc.). there are also links there to art concerning menstruation and the norwegian museum of menstruation. i just spent a good hour milling around on the site -- it was fascinating!
on a side note, i stumbled upon the link by accident when i was researching comparisons between "The Keeper" and "INSTEAD" -- does anyone have any feedback they'd like to share on that? and let me know what you think of the museum (interesting that a man started it, no?).

Date: 2001-06-21 06:44 am (UTC)i hear nothing but good things about the keeper.
i tried instead once. i hated it. it leaked, but then again, i was a heavy bleeder.
Keeper vs. Instead
Date: 2001-06-21 07:32 am (UTC)- It is not a disposable product, so I'm not producing waste every month what with the product itself, packaging, etc...
- Over the life of the product (I think it's supposed to be 10 years) it is much cheaper than Instead
- Instead seems to be becoming rarer and rarer in stores... maybe that's just in my area, though.
Just my 2¢, for what it's worth...yup!
Date: 2001-06-21 08:53 am (UTC)As a side note... a man started the menstrualhut community, too. :)
Re: yup!
Date: 2001-06-21 02:27 pm (UTC)Insteads
Date: 2001-06-21 03:29 pm (UTC)What is The Keeper? and where does one buy them? I find Insteads hard to find in the New England area. CVS is about the only place I've found them.

Date: 2001-06-23 10:01 am (UTC)I tried Instead a few years ago. It's a fucking nightmare. Huge, unwiedly, uncomfortable. And it leaks if you cough, sneeze, or laugh. Run far, run fast.
The museum is cool- I've browsed through it a bit, but never had time or inclination to really dig.
