I've seen people posting about the pill and whatnot, so thought I'd share some thoughts.

I'm currently taking Yasmin as I have terrible periods, so I thought I'd see if this helps. I have taken several other types of pill before but I've had side effects like blood spotting, leg ache and bloating, so I've kept changing. It's really annoying! However, it does make my periods lighter and less painful, and they are normally quite horrible despite large doses of painkiller. Natural things like starflower oil haven't helped.

I've only been taking Yasmin for a month, but I've been feeling a bit weepy and (ah, I blush! :)) my libido is a bit shot. Yasmin is meant to have fewer side effects - are any of you taking it and if so have you had any effects like this? Have they worn off?

I've heard an IUS can help with period pains as an alternative to the pill - what do you reckon?

That was absolutely the worst pill for my body chemistry I've ever taken. Yasmin gave me migraines every day, and I quickly became nearly suicidal. After that I threw in the towel on pills all together, and while my periods are less regular and far more debilitating, I'm a happier woman for not having the constant migraines.

i am taking yasmin and i love it. i was on a few other pills before and they made me depressed, not to meation constantly hungry. i have had almost no side effects from yasmin at tall. the first few months i was on it i actually lost weight and no more crying jags...if i take it on an empty stomach it will cause some cramps, but i have a weak stomach to begin with so...

i hope you find a pill that works well

A lot of pills have side effects that wear off after about three months or so; I was queasy for most of the first few months I was on them. Other than that I've had few problems except for spotting, but everyone reacts differently. I'd say give it a little more time for your body to adapt!

I assume you mean IUDs; I've read that the copper ones actually increase cramping for at least the first few cycles. Not sure about the ones which use hormones, though...
