beach trip

i am going on an all day beach trip this weekend, and my period will be heavy then. this is the first time i have been at the beach while on the rag and i just wanted to know if there's anything i should/shouldn't do. i will be wearing tampons, but i am just wondering if there's anything else i need to know. thanks! :)

well i dont know about that... but i think you will be fine if you just wear a tampon.

Sharks... well follow local advice but I have swum (tourist dive) on the Great Barrier Reef and the Scuba instructor said it was safe (yes, I checked with a bloke), and he then feed a couple of brown tiped sharks (6 ft + 5ft) and I had no worries. I even helped convince another woman with her period to snorkle. I have heard that peeing in the water is a bad idea.

As for special beach stuff, erm, I think tampons can get a bit wet from the outside in so you may need to check a bit more frequently. Big beach towels are useful for covering up in case of accidents... (been there, cleaned the swimsuit - 1 piece too!)
