heels trapped in steel straps
look at that ceiling tile
the one pocked by all the stares

now this'll be a bit cold for ya
in go her fingers, poke around
cheerful chatter bout my
'healthy little womb'

her fingers are cold
but not unfriendly
we're all women here

been exercizing lately?
how'd you know?
bad yeast infection. eat your yogurt!

and i think back
to times before words
an older woman scolds
the younger one lies
legs in the air,
fingers in her belly.
