wow, i suddenly realized that i can ask a long-pondered question here, without fear of being ridiculed (well, not too much) !

cool!

question: ok. on those really strong flow days (for me, days 2 and 3), how do you keep from a)dripping on the bathroom floor after the shower and b)staining your towel with red blotches?

please tell me. dad was no help at all.

Do you wear tampons? If you don't that might be the thing to do. I usually wear them (OB or Tampax), so I don't drip.

I've found regular tampons (Tampax) to be a little uncomfortable and I always bled through them. But a friend of mine introduced me to O.B. (the regular kind without the applicator) and I've found that I don't bleed through and they're more comfortable because you can feel exactly where you're putting it. If you're feeling adventurous, I'd say give it a shot.

Good luck in any case. =o)

I usually make sure I wash really well, so all the stuff near the surface goes away. Then I dry myself as much as possible without putting the towel in danger and hurriedly get back into underwear and pad.

Why on earth would you ask your dad? :)

I know what you mean about the no ridiculing... I was so happy when I started reading this community; I honestly thought everyone else had gotten over being paranoid about leaking.

i wear tampons now, which prevents that prevents that problem. before i started wearing tampons, though, i'd hop out of the shower still dripping wet and sit down on the toilet to dry off. i'd have undies and a pad right there to put on after i'd toweled off enough. my mom always wondered how the bathroom floor got so wet... *laugh*

they're nice for the shower and for sleeping, especially, but i prefer them to pads all the time.

before i started using a menstrual cup, that's what i'd do, too. it was a pain in the ass, planning, but it works. before you shower you put a pad or two and a clean pair of underwear near the toilet. you hop out, sit down, dry off, and go from there.

i'm glad you had the courage to ask. :)

Dark towel and tampons work wonders :)

I keep a dark colored hand towel near the shower when I'm bleeding... I hold that between my legs until I'm finished drying off, whatever... Or I just wear my Keeper (http://www.keeper.com/) in the shower.

Relatively comfortable? Oh yeah. I have to remind myself that I'm wearing it after the first couple of days of my period. (On those days it's the general discomfort that reminds me.) ;-)

I don't particularly worry about it. Blood does not stain the towels if you wash in cold, and if it drips on the floor, it can be wiped up.
