Okay, so one of my guy friends says that a lot of females become bisexual because they don't get what they need from guys. (Like attention. They're not popular with the guy.) Do you think there is any validity to this?

(I happen to be bi, and I don't think that that's always the case. Such situations might just be the catalyst, methinks.)

I just went to see a new gyno yesterday. I am very upset by the way she treated me, and by her lack of consideration for my needs. She didn't even ask me any questions.

These are some of the things that bother me:

She suggested I go on bc pills. That was her first suggestion. I don't want to go on the pill, and I told her that I am concerned about weight gain, skin problems, and mood swings. She said she had never heard of such side effects.

Now, I've heard of these side effects from women I've met. So I cannot believe that this woman, who is a doctor has never heard of them.

She also suggested that I go on continuous bc pills, and only have a period every twelve weeks. I told her of the experiences I've heard here. regarding such usage; how several of you said your doctors had told you this was only safe for two cycles. She said she'd never heard that either, or that after the first cycle, the patient often felt bloated and pre-menstrual until having the next period.

So, I'm asking you all to tell me your experience with the pill. She wants to put me on low-dosage "20" pills. She also wants to put me on continuous pills.

Please respond here with your experiences, so I'll have something to take to this doctor or the next one. I am tired of being jerked around.

To 00g and everyone else who've asked:

Microserfs is a book by Douglas Coupland which in a gutsy move for a guy he has his female characters sitting around chatting about their cycles and such and at one point they realize that Fry's (a geek-uber-store) has male hygiene products but did not carry feminine products-- yeap, no pads or tampons etc. There's even a converstation on OB vrs applicators... anyway-- the girls start a club called Chyx (which I am sooo there about) and actually picket Fry's for being sexist.

This book is like the defining book of my life-- people who want to understand me better are directed to it. No- its not perfect but neither am I. :) And there is a microserfs LJ community though it is pretty quiet.

Anyways-- skip ahead years after I discover the book. I find out that Fry's really exists. OMG. :) The guy I was in love with lives in San Francisco and works in Silicon Valley and when I got to go out for a visit, he took me to Fry's and made sure we checked to see if they carried tampons or not before we left. Such the couplandesque moment. :)

They do now. Smack me for not buying everyone some for Christmas :)
Granted, not much of a selection and honestly I have no idea if the book was truthful or if they carried them now because of the book or ? but still-- there's a bit of poetic justice for us girl geeks in the world. :)

Fry's is the ultimate store and while they are slowly coming across the states (I'm in North Carolina) it is on my list of many reasons to move to SF. And no- guy mentioned above is not even near the list anymore.

Microserfs had a much better ending. :)

Arggggghhhhhh!!!! I have some wicked wacked out hormones! Guess it goes with mommyhood huh? I'm ovulating now, and having a fabulous *said with dripping sarcasm* hormone surge. I've been cranky with my kiddo all day. I've pretty much yelled at him for everything (granted, he has been extremly whiney today) and I keep losing my temper withhim. Frickin hormones. I'll be better tomorrow or day after. Then its a few days of sanity before slipping into the even more fun hormones of my PMS. Ahhh...I do love being a woman!

Ahhhhhhhh, the Depo-Shot... practically 0 risk of preganancy....

But OH! the weight gain!!

Anyone else relate?

I've also experienced the side effect of losing my period completely-- is this more common than I think it is? I've heard that one's monthly is less intense when one is on the shot, but never of losing it all together.... anyone?
