ladies ladies ladies... i love you all and love reading your posts everynight... but it occurs to me that especially as of late there are more than a few posts that can head over to another livejournal community :) Birthcontrol is a WONDERFUL place to ask all bc related posts, especially because i know it sometimes isn't as frequented by GOOD advice givers as it could be :) I'm not complaining because these posts are certainly period related! I just am up for some more good advice givers to head over to that community to help some of those chickas out on occasion as well :) and it's a good place to ask many of the same quesitons that are being asked around here, and to find information on different kinds :)

~thanks for the time :)

My cycle's a very bizarre thing. The longest it's been was 74 days, the shortest was 31. It started getting shorter, now it's getting longer again!
But (sorry to be so graphic) i have terrible wind! I know it's common for women to get a form of IBS when they're menstruating, but can anyone tell me why this is please? Thanks!

Wow, what a treat.

I just got totally surprised by my period. I wasn't tracking it this time.

It's a treat, because I always have had a headache and cramps to warn me about it beforehand, and so far, I've had neither.

I was exhausted yesterday, which can happen, but I blamed it on Pride and my sunburn.

No headache or cramps? I can live with that.

Back in the hut, right on time. I love my birth control pills, I can predict my period almost down to the hour.

As usual, on the first day I am cramping, though by no means unbearably, I am lucky. This always makes me miss my cat. He was a very chubby cat with big floppy front feet -- declawed, extra toes -- so when I had cramps I would put him on my lap and he would kneed my stomach. He was a massaging, purring heating pad. So comforting. I miss him so much =(

I was directed to this community by a friend of mine, and I have some questions that, maybe, can be answered here.

Let's get down to it...^_^

I'm a 19 year old, sexually active (sort of) female. And my period has never been regular, naturally. I did take Ortho-Novum and that regulated it, but when I stopped taking them it went right back to being irregular.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to regulate my period short of getting back on the pill? Do any of you women have this?

woo hoo!

It's been 60+ days since my last period. And I really want to start my birth control.

Please send your period in an unmarked envelope to the following email address: de_de_2222@yahoo.com. Appreciated in advance.

hi, my name is amanda, and i am 17 years old. i have never been to the gyno, for the fact i am too scared to go. i honestly think i should see a doctor, for the fact i think i have major problems below deck. heave flood-like periods run in my family, and i am a lucky girl to get the gene. along with the waterfall, i have intense cramps and headaches. sometimes i even spend days puking anythingi attempt to eat. i dont even move most of the time im on my period. but thats not the end of it. i have a discharge that kind of lasts throughtout the entire time im not on my period. that has been going on for at least a year and a half, but im scared to do anything about it. its rather gross. plus i get so sick to my stomach and sometimes even a fever. is there anything i can do to lessen the flow/pain? im sick of being a girl!

another thing. im very scared to go to the doctors/gyno. im shy just going to the doctors for a physical exam. but i do think i need to go. plus, my boyfriend and i are extremely sexually active. he wants me to go onto birth control to be safe. having birth control prescribed means going to the gyno. how can i get over my fear of this?

thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for the comments.

I managed to induce my period by taking ridiculous amounts of Vitamin C, as suggested by someone a month or two ago. Can't find the entry right now. I decided to induce because I'm going on a month-long visit with family, and since I'm usually not very regular, I'd be safe if I just got it over with beforehand.

My question is: is there any way to make sure that you skip a period? I only say this because it seems like every time I go on this particular trip, I manage to get my period, which makes very awkward situations, as I am somewhat shy. So I'd rather just not have to deal with it.

I found this on the Menstrual Hut website, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

Does anyone know anything that might help?

Ok, so I went to the gyno today for the first time ever...The exam itself was alright, but I didn't like the doc much...I felt like I wanted to tell her everything I was feeling, all my strange pains, bad cramps, bad PMS, etc, but she's didn't let me talk..I mean, she was nice, but everything was done so fast...
She gave me two sample packages of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and gave me a prescription for an 11 month supply....Gees...she didn't even tell me how to use them (when to start, etc). She said that I was alright. The recptionist said that they will call if the results of the pap semar came back bad...I said can I call you guys anyways? She said yes...
SO I'm really happy to be on the pills...but when should I start taking them?
On the package it says if it's your first time, to start the first day of your period. My period came on June 23...it ended this past Sundayy...then i see on the back it says something about a Sunday start...
WTF???
Questions now:
1. Do I start taking them the first day of my period?
2. I hate getting my period around the 23rd since that day is my anniversary...is there any way to change that with the pills?
3. Do they have bad side effects? She put me on them because I am active but also because I get bad cramps, etc..
4. Do I have to take them at EXACTLY THE SAME time every day? Or more or less any time in the same hour?
5. What is the best time to take them? Nighttime or morning? My friend told me she was on the pill and took them at night or less she would feel bad side effects (she used to puke on them).
6. Do they cause weight gain (I hope so since I'm so skinny).
7. I get my period so bad that I throw up...what if I throw up my pill?

Sorry for all my questions...I'm just don't know anything and though the doc was nice..it's like if she dodn't want to be asked questions, get me?

ah
