An update on my
previous post ...
I got my period today, two and a half weeks after I'd expected it. It seems normal so far, although I'm a little crampier and sorer than usual.
However, I'm posting because of my doctor's visit yesterday. She said pretty much what y'all have said: that there could be many reasons my period was late, and that there wasn't necessarily anything wrong. And by yesterday I was pretty willing to believe that; I was content to just wait for my period to start.
She gave me a prescription for Provera, which she said mimics the hormones of the second half of your menstrual cycle; after taking it (for a week, I think, or maybe two), you should start your period within a few days.
The Provera is the thing I'm wondering about. I'd gone through Our Bodies, Ourselves, and it did say that doctors can give you medication to "bring on" periods; but it wasn't really in favor of them. So I was planning to come here and ask for input on Provera, but it turns out that now I don't need it. Still, I'd like to hear a little bit more about it.
Who's taken Provera, and how did you react to it?
