hi :)

heres something i never understood:
all of the pads that are made for the night are big and everything, more than the ones you'd use during the day... but usually when i get my period, i can go to bed with a pad on and everything and when i wake up, there wont be any blood on it... but a few minutes after im out of bed, i get the most blood out. im guessing its because you lay down during the night and the blood doesnt flow down... and it only comes out when im standing... but its obviously not like that for most women because i see so many huge pads made for nights. it just seems weird to me that everyone needs extra protection during the night when i bleed even less at night than i do during the day.

is anyone else like this?

Hi friends. I was just prescribed an antibiotic. Does anyone know whether all antibiotics interfere with the effectiveness of the Pill? Or does it depend on the type and dose?

Lately, my mother has been trying to book a gynecological exam with my life long pediatrician. I've been told girls should start going generally when they start their periods. But who wants to see a 8/9-year-old girl getting a Pap smear?

Well, I'm 17 now. And I have to get the exam done so I can go on birth control pills to regulate my period, diminish the excruciating cramps, and minimize the excessive bleeding that I have experienced ever since then.

And I am scared to death.

Can anyone give me a brief (or detailed) description of what goes on during one of those visits, so I can know what to expect? Any advice would be helpful.

My mother offered to go in the room with me during the exam. I'm not sure if that will help, but still, the whole idea of the exam makes me want to cross my legs forever.

I think I will share the same feelings as victorianbeauty-- discussing her sentiments on her Pap smear.

HOLY SHIZNET, AM I TERRIFIED!

Am I the only person who didn't totally freak out over my first PAP smear and exam? I had no problems, wasn't scared or nervous or anything. And I was, and stil am, a complete virgin. And I didn't feel weird afterwards either. We're women and it's just something we need to do for our health. It's nothing unnatural or freaky. Just a procedure like any other.

This may sound weird, but does anyone else's vagina almost burn when they are having their period?

Recently I've been noticing that every time I have my period, I get really uncomfortable down there and it has an almost burning sensation sometimes. It's not because of the pads or tampons, either. Do anyone know why I could be feeling this way? Is there something wrong, or just another way my body is screaming at me (I have awful cramps, too)?

Any help/advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

just out of curiousity... why does anyone use birth control pills when it would appear that the birth control shot is so much more convenient?

does the shot have worse side affects that i haven't heard of? sorry if this question seems naive; i'm more than a little ignorant on the subject.

Cycle's still weird, as if my body has forgotten how to time itself.

I counted the last few months. 26 days, 29 days, 30 days, 27 days, 26 days. Weird. I used to be 28 -30 days, every time.
