Somebody asked me to report back about my adventures adjusting to Mircette: last month I was plagued with cramps for the first time since I started taking BC pills. It was my second month on Mircette, and I was angry, terrified, and consuming a whole lot of chocolate.

This time around I'm happy to report that my period is back to being pain free, although I'm still consuming a lot of chocolate. I think I'll live. I was a little worried because somebody had said that if they mess up the pill taking they get unbearable cramps, and I missed a pill by a whole 24 hours (I have never, ever done that before. this is what I get for relying on the alarm watch and not my own memory), but I had no problems at all.

So, um, yay!

cloth pads

Okay ladies, those of you that make and/or use cloth pads, I have a question.

I just made a set of five out of some really cute flannel (I get to bleed on moons and butterflies!), and they're super comfy. I got the pattern from the back of a zine I got a lil while ago... anyway, the pattern said I could make liners out of two pieces of the same flannel sewn together. Well, my period is really heavy (for the third effing day in a row..) and the cloth pads just can't handle it. I'm thinking I need a more absorbent liner. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there some way I should re-design the pad to make it work better?

hi all,
I just joined, but have been reading this community for gosh, years now. I have over and over again read about the Keeper and now the Divacup. For dumb reasons I am more attracted to the Divacup, but am still a bit wary to dive in and get one. I was thinking about trying out Instead and seeing how I felt about that and then stepping up to the plate and getting a Divacup if I liked it.
I was wondering if this seemed dumb, like are they similar at all? Could I judge from one how I would feel about the other??

any advice would rock.
thanks.
:o)

okay....this month I did something really different with my birth control pills, and I'm going to try to describe it without getting confusing. For the past 7 months, I have been on birth control Cyclessa pills, taking them every morning between 7:30 and 8:30am. However, this month that changed...at the first pill of this month's pack, I waited to take it till 7pm on the day that I usually take it at 7:30am, because I forgot. I figured, no big deal, it's the very first day of the new pack anyway, so I'll just switch to taking my pills at night instead of in the morning. I figured since my body had been getting nothing but sugar pills for the previous week, the best time to change the time I take my pill would be the first pill of the new pack. However, two days ago I was so sick of taking the pill at night...it was totally messing me up and for some reason I had weird mood swings because of it. No physical symptoms or anything, just didn't like taking it at night. So, Monday night, I took it at night as usual...then Tuesday morning I took it at 7:30am like I used to, because I wanted to switch back. I figured, since the switch involved going back in time and not forward, my body would still have the required amount of hormones if I took it at 7:30am that day. Basically I took the "switch" pill 12 hours early, to get myself back on track. Since then I have happily been taking it at 7:30 everymorning, no signs of any sort of hormonal foul play thus far. Has anyone else ever done this sort of crazy switcharoo with their birth control pills? Did it work out okay? I'm not worried about pregnancy (any more than usual) because my body was never without the hormones...it only doubled up for about 12 hours that one day. I just wanted to post this to see if anyone else had done anything similar.

SCORE!!

i went to my regular doctor yesterday to have her look at my foot for something. after i got that taken care of, i thought," i'm here, so why not discuss my period?" and that's excatly what i did. she said no gyno until i'm 18 because my irregularity is normal. when i told her about the cramps she prescribed me Naproxen 250mg dosage. :DDDD she was sorry that my cramps were that bad, and i should take 1 pill first and wait at least 2 hours to take another if it persists. i feel really lucky to have her... she's so great :D she said the BCP isn't for me yet because i'm not sexually active, and my periods aren't that badly irregular.

i hope this stuff works... do any of you take/have taken this too, and does/has it work(ed)?

i am at peace with my uterus ^___^

Two friends of mine have recently had miscarriages. I'm a little lost for words, not ever having been pregnant myself, but would like to be able to offer some comfort.

If you were in that situation what would you want to hear?

i'm in the hut.

im usually really happy about that, but im a little pissed off this time.
i'm jewish.. and we have a fast today, so i havent eaten anything since yesterday at about 5pm, and i cant eat till around 8pm tonight. i also cant drink anything, and i feel the cramps starting, but i cant take anything to make them go away :( this sucks.
it also came one day early.. maybe because i havent eaten anything, i dunno. and my boobs usually get really sore about a week before, but they dont hurt at all this time, so i thought it would come late. i guess i was wrong.

oh well.
sorry, i just had to get that out. :)

I got my first period on birth control pills yesterday-- something to deal with being around my chorus teacher, he always brings about my periods....

Birth control pills are the best! For the first time, I actually don't mind my period. It's my first month on the pills, so I wasn't expecting anything drastic. It did lessen the symptoms of my period. Granted I'm still bleeding a lot, but not as heavy as before. I don't have to wear overnight pads during the day anymore. Score! And I'm not incapacitated by my cramps. I still get them, but they are nowhere near making me double over and cry for the entire day like the usually do. It was also nice knowing that my period was coming this week, something that I've never been able to predict before.

Sorry about the rant, but getting ortho tricyclen is probably the best thing I have done in a LONG time. I had to tell someone.
