Dark blood, unusually thin, but very heavy.

Does it mean anything or is it just some weird thing that happened?
(My periods are usually bright red, pretty think consistency and medium heavy)

Just wondering if there was something I should be concerned about.

P.S. Any birth control methods you suggest? My mother volunteered to take me to get on some sort of birth control. I was thinking about the Pill, maybe the combination one. I dont know. Suggestions?

Hi gals!

I've been lurking here for awhile, but I figured I'd finally post, since from your entries I see that some of you might find this interesting:

I have a new book coming out May 1st called 28 Days: What Your Cycle Reveals About Your Love Life, Moods, and Potential. It's the first daily horoscope based on women's hormones. Yes, women's hormones!

Supported by over one hundred scientific studies, 28 Days shows you how your hormones affect you every day of your menstrual cycle in virtually every way -- mood, brain skills, relationship, sex, money, career, diet, health, and more.

There are also helpful tips for dealing with your period. For instance, if you start taking ibuprofen two to three days before your period, it will lessen or prevent menstrual cramps! That's because ibuprofen prevents the production of prostaglandins, the chemical that causes the pain of cramps. Even better? It can take as little as one to two ibuprofens two to three days before your period to prevent cramps.

If you'd like to learn more about 28 Days, you can check out its website at 28Days-thebook.com.

I also decided to pipe up now because I'm offering a special free bonus for people who reserve 28 Days before the May 1st launch date -- The 28 Days Vacation Guide, a daily guide to planning the perfect vacation according to your hormone cycle! Simply reserve the book on Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com, drop me a note at Gabrielle@28Days-thebook.com, and I'll email you The 28 Days Vacation Guide.

Thanks, all!

After much issue with being able to get it to where I live, I finally have my DivaCup. Just in time too, because I have started that period countdown. I am going to wear it tonight, because I will probably be going to a party, and I don't want to be caught. That and it gives me practice to wearing it. I am glad that I have it, because unlike a tampon, I can wear it when I think that it is coming, instead of waiting for it to come. I hate getting caught.
So YEAH! *does the happy I-have-a-DivaCup dance*

Hello girls,

Just a quick question. I'm going to (hopefully) try to induce my period this weekend with the tea I read about in the memories. I don't have some massive event that I don't want Auntie Flo for or anything, i'm just having *insanely* bad PMS symptoms, and it shouldn't begin for almost a week, so I just want to make it start now. But enough background.

Question: will inducing a period a week early have an affect on the next period? Assuming one is (normally) fairly regular, would one's next period still come 28 days after the induced period began, or 28 days after said induced period would have naturally come?

New Here! :)

Just had a question in regards to pregnancy. My friend is thinking that she might possibly be pregnant, and she got in a fight about 2 weeks ago, being beat up pretty badly.. she suffered punches to her belly, some pretty low down and she even has bruises now. Also, she's not a frequent taker of birth control, but when she thought she might be pregnant, she began taking BC.. so now, she's taking BC and is complaining of breast tenderness etc.. She didn't start taking the BC till about a week after her last period, approx 2 1/2 weeks ago and so she's due for another period soon, but I'm just getting worried about her general health...

My question is, with the two factors combined (the fight and the BC), if she had been pregnant, would she have lost the baby?
Anyone?

I was wondering if anyone here has info or experience with seasonale. I just started this eight weeks ago. For the last four years I've been on Orthotricyclen, but was beginning to have side-effects that were unpleasant. So I switched to Seasonale (tempted by fewer periods) and it was great to start with. No real side effects at the beginning. But at the beginning of week 7 I started spotting. It's been 12 days now and I'm still spotting/bleeding. It's not really heavy, but I have started getting cramps about 5 days ago. I read on the packaging that 65% of women had more than 7 days of spotting during the first cycle. Only 35% had more than 20 days. And after a year they reported no difference in spotting than women on the 28 day pills. So here's the question: do I stick it out for a few cycles and hope it starts to work? And how long can I continue this spotting without it being detrimental to my health? Any advice? Thanks.

I just started using the diva cup and I must say that I hope that I am not the only person that can say that this feels funny. I followed the directions that came with the cup regarding insertion, yet I can still feel it inside me. PLEASE.... someone tell me that this is going to pass. and has anyone ever had cramping after insertion?
Any advice from those of you who use this device would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you,
cali
