Mother Stonehenge
Jun. 7th, 2003 01:14 pmI was sitting here reading my Discover Magazine and I found this. Crossposted in

Anthony Perks, an Endocrinologist and professor of gynecology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, see a symbolic meaning in the Stonehenge that other researchers have overlooked: The 50-ton stones trace the shape of a human vulva, he says. Archaeologists have long puzzled over the inner arches of Stonehenge, which consist of paired, capped stones, one of which is rough and the other rubbed smooth. Perk's theory could explain this formation. "In the female, estrogens make the skin softer and smoother than in the male. It struck me that here's the reasonthe two are united by a lintel over the top: They're the mothers and fathers of the past," Perks says. He also found that the inner and outer circles of stones match the locations of the labia minora dn labia majora, and an altar sits where the clitoris would be. Other authorities have thought Stonehenge was a temple for the worship of the sun or the moon. Perks sees no contradiction: "There was a concept in Neolithic times of a great goddess or earth mother. Stonehenge could represent the opening by which the earth mother gave birth to the plants and animals on which ancient people so depended." - Josie Glausiusz

Dear Miss Scarlett,
Jun. 7th, 2003 02:13 pmWould you just show up already? It stresses me out when you are late. Not to mention it would *really* piss me off if I got pregnant the first time I had sex in 9 months.
So just get your ass here already!
Sincerely,
Little Miss Cranky Pants

From Non-Con, People Against Non-Consensual Pelvic Exams:
On Tuesday, June 10, 2003, the Federal Trade Commission will be holding hearings on Health Care and Competition Law and Policy -- and they will address the policy of medical students performing pelvic exams on anesthetized patients without the patient's consent.
You can make your opinion on non-consensual pelvic exams heard by submitting your written views to the FTC. Submissions must be received no later than July 25, 2003.
So, take this opportunity to tell the FTC that you are against non-consensual pelvic exams and want informed consent to be an absolute requirement!
(Please read the requirements for submission of your opinion carefully -- the FTC requires 6 copies, and submissions in both electronic and "hard copy" forms.)
Here is the link to the FTC website page about the hearings and where to send your submissions:

Quick Question
Jun. 7th, 2003 07:44 pmHow long before a yearly check up at the gyn should I stop having sex? Or does it even matter at all? I thought before I had an appointment at Planned Parenthood a few years back then quoted me like a a day or two before the appointment?
I gotta say, I love the Instead cup. It's so much more convenient than tampons, and doesn't dry out my cooch and make it all sore. And it doesn't leak unless I leave it in for too long on a heavy day. But generally, I can leave it in for 8 hours and not worry at all... great for work indeed.
I read that it's supposedly great to use for having sex while mensturating, because it's not messy. Has anyone done this? I'm thinking of doing it tonight, but I have this fear that he's going th thrust and it's going to hit my cervix and hurt.

Non-Con wants to hear from you...
Jun. 7th, 2003 08:45 pmDid medical students practice pelvic exams on you while you were anesthetized? Did you ask your doctor prior to an operation if medical students would be practicing on you -- and the doctor said "yes"? Interviews needed for a well-respected national evening news program!

If all women bled...
Jun. 7th, 2003 09:36 pmHey folks. I've wanted to find a community like this, but, der, I spelled menstruation wrong every time I searched. REgardLess, I'm glad I was able to stumble upon your group.
Just curious:
How would the world be different if all women menstrated at the same time?

Is it normal for your crotch to have a burning sensation come out of nowhere? My crotch has been burning all day, almost similar to the burning I felt after I had my pap smear a little over a month ago (but not at intense as the burning was after the pap smear). I don't have anything wrong with me and I'm due to start my period in about 2 days (I took my first dud pill of my birth control today). Thanks in advance!!!

Yesterday I started. It was period hell I say.
Figures I was out with my boy friend all day. I'm very lucky he's such an understanding person. Wicked cramps yesterday and today. PMS is easy. But the 1st two days...yuck... lots of motrin, a heating pad, pillows and chocolate are my best buds.

Jun. 7th, 2003 11:42 pmMy period still has not come.
Last month I took vitamin C to induce my period.
I am just wondering if anyone has taken it for that reason and what side effects it caused you, if any. Im thinking maybe the vitamin C did something that is causing me to ovulate later or something...is it possible to ovulate a week or so later than normal...even though I am usually on time????
